On a sunny October Sunday, we launched our new event format, with an Autumn Party at Fern.
With a new focus on bringing together a larger local crowd and (gently!) encouraging guests to get to know each other, we were excited to welcome nearly 100 people for the afternoon.
Guests were greeted with a delicious ‘Japanese Autumn’ cocktail (a sweet blend of Prosecco, Sake and botanicals) and music courtesy of Ministry of Sound tour DJ, Dan Grey.
Our team of Professional Minglers (CJ, Craig, Izzy, Laura and Leanne) mixed and mingled to help create introductions and make sure no one was left standing alone in the corner (unless they wanted to be!).
Every half an hour, they also oversaw our Speed NOTworking sessions. This ensured all guests were guaranteed to chat to at least 5 new faces. Keen to get people talking (without the usual “what do you do?” question), each pair of Speed NOTworkers were given a different set of questions to help trigger conversations. We’re the first to admit it was an activity that could have gone either way (!) so it was brilliant to see everyone embrace the exercise and continue the conversations they started over at the bar afterwards 🙂
We had some lovely feedback about the afternoon including:
“Brilliant to come together and feel positive and hopeful about this town we all call home” Rachel
“It’s really nice to have a mixer like last night to meet people and make friends my age with there being no bias or leading towards “dating”. That’s why I was so keen to come and my goodness did it deliver.” Arthur
“A fabulous afternoon” Melissa
“We made new friends and felt part of an excellent group of people” Heather
“A lovely afternoon. Fab to finally check out Fern and their fabulous cocktails” Nita
“Well done on organising a fab event (as always)” Sam
Local photographer Wayne La (aka @CronxLad) and Videographer Miles Worsfold (aka @ThirstyFoodie) were on hand to capture the event (see below!)
Thank you to everyone who helped organise the afternoon and to all the guests who threw themselves into it all!
Got any feedback about this event (or any suggestions ahead of the Winter Party we’ll be planning for Feb 2024?) – please get in touch on info@eastcroydoncool.co.uk or drop us a DM on socials.
