INCOMING is our monthly blog post that provides a hand-picked selection of the events we’re most looking forward to that month. Read the March round up here.
We also run our own East Croydon Cool MEET UPS and EVENTS to help bring locals together.
- Are you new/newish to Croydon (been here less than 5 years?)
- Are you aged 20 to 40? (or thereabouts!)
- Want to hang out more in The Cronx but don’t have a network of friends in the area yet?
Join our regular Meet-Ups to get to know other newcomers and explore different venues in your new neighbourhood.
Tickets are £5 and include a free glass of house wine, beer or soft drink. Previous meet ups have been held at Matthews Yard, Boxpark, Memory Box, the Dog & Bull, Basil & Grape, and Art & Craft.
These events are open to all ages and bring residents together on the basis of shared interests.

East Croydon Cool presents…Hot Yoga
On Thursday 22nd October, East Croydon Cool partnered with Yoga Haven to (safely) bring together local residents for a socially distanced hot yoga session. After experiencing it first hand, attendees were invited to take part in a Q&A from an expert practitioner to learn more about the benefits of hot yoga. Designed with beginners in mind, the 50 minute session was held in Yoga Haven’s beautiful new studio on the new Ruskin Square complex.
East Croydon Cool presents…Lino Printing Workshop with Art Club Croydon
On Thursday 24th October, East Croydon Cool hosted a lino printing class led by the lovely ladies from Art Club Croydon. Having been welcomed with a complimentary glass of wine, attendees watched a live demo and got inspiration from a variety of ‘here’s one we made earlier’ examples. Materials were then provided for guests to cut their own designs into lino before printing onto paper. Croydon inspired pre-drawn designs were available and the Art Club Croydon team were on hand to help throughout. Whilst waiting for pictures to dry, guests caught up and met new friends over drinks. The resulting work was framed so everyone left with their own personalised piece of artwork.
East Croydon Cool presents…A Croydonites Night
On Saturday 18th May, East Croydon Cool invited people to experience one of the immersive theatre performances taking place during Croydonites Festival. Döden (held at Matthews Yard) was a participatory experience where the audience, through movement, was invited to examine and meditate upon existential, physical and meta-physical questions regarding life, living, death, dying, their own bodies, its functions and the social context it dwells in. The group then headed to Basil & Grape for a well needed debrief (accompanied by wine and nibbles!)
East Croydon Cool presents…a Sunday Stroll (in partnership with the Lily Pad Appeal)
On Sunday 5th May, an East Croydon Cool team took part in ‘The Great Croydon 5k Sponsored Walk’ before heading for a roast lunch in The Joker. This Sponsored Walk was in aid of The Lily Pad Appeal; a campaign set up by Chartwell Cancer Trust to raise £750,000 for a state-of-the-art Children’s Cancer Unit for Croydon.
East Croydon Cool presents…a Gin and Tonic Masterclass
On Thursday 21st February, East Croydon Cool joined forces with Mr Fox Croydon for a gin and tonic masterclass in partnership with Lixir tonics and several artisan gin companies. Guests sipped on gin cocktails during an introduction and demonstration from Lixir before creating their own G&Ts using three different gins and a selection of herbs, spices, fruits and tonics.
East Croydon Cool presents…Dinner with Strangers
On Wednesday 18th December, to celebrate the launch of the new Private Dining Room at The Joker, East Croydon Cool hosted ‘Dinner with Strangers’. This social dining experience enabled guests to enjoy great food and drink in an intimate setting, whilst getting to know new people (courtesy of a few low key ice-breakers!)
East Croydon Cool presents…Street Art Tour and Bottomless Lunch
On Saturday 21st July, in collaboration with RISEgallery and Crushed Bean, East Croydon Cool hosted a Street Art Tour and Bottomless Lunch for 20 people. The event included a one-hour walking tour around the Arts Quarter and an introduction to some of the key pieces and the artists who created them. Attendees then enjoyed a delicious lunch at Crushed Bean amongst new friends, accompanied by bottomless white wine and prosecco.
