Storm Eunice was fierce, but she met her match with Croydoners in desperate need of a party! On Friday 18th Feb, nearly 200 local residents, business owners and creatives joined us at The Venue on Middle St. to celebrate the East Croydon Cool community reaching 10,000 followers on Instagram.
Whilst it felt like a good way to mark a potentially tumbleweed type milestone (!) the main aim was bring together a great mix of locals IN REAL LIFE and to raise a glass to getting through the last couple of years.
When we started East Croydon Cool, we wanted to help showcase the positive sides of Croydon, help strengthen local pride and encourage people to embrace the exciting new changes redevelopment brings as well as the businesses, organisations and people who have been here for years.
The past couple of years have been tough for the Borough (with issues you will be all too familiar with!) so this party felt like a good opportunity to rally Croydon’s much talked about community spirit and spread some positivity.
And that spirit flowed as much as the drinks did!
The mix of guests in attendance was Croydon at its finest – artists, musicians, designers, councillors, lawyers, tech entrepreneurs, singers, yogis, photographers, restaurateurs, engineers, bar owners, personal trainers, surveyors and so many more chatted and danced together like old mates 😉
We’ve had some great feedback with people seemingly keen for more events like this. So watch this space (and sign up to our Newsletter) to keep updated on our next event.
Thank you to everyone who made it possible:
