Amazing opportunity for Croydon makers to have a pop-up shop in Central London!

A brilliant opportunity has become available for Croydon’s artists, makers and creators.

‘London Made Me’ is a retail training and pop-up shop project that is being delivered through the Mayor of London’s Creative Enterprise Zone (CEZ) programme.

Croydon received Creative Enterprise Zone status (a designated area of London where artists and creative businesses can find permanent affordable workspace and are supported to start-up and grow) in December 2018.

As such, this exciting opportunity (which comprises a five-day training programme and the chance to help build, and sell within, a pop-up shop in a prime Central London location) is open to all of the Borough’s makers and artists.

The programme is focused on developing the practical skills, expertise and mindset necessary to establish and launch a successful retail experience in today’s challenging high street context. It will culminate in the build, fit-out and launch of a pop-up retail site in Central London at which participants will sell their products and deliver a scheduled programme of events and public activations.

The project is designed to give participants valuable experience and practical training that will support local creative communities across London, contribute to high street re-activation across the 10 partner boroughs in the Creative Enterprise Zones programme and boost pandemic recovery. It will also give participants an opportunity to develop their network, build connections and gain new skills in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

The project is being run in partnership with Alice Mayor, founder of successful Carnaby Street based pop-up shop and brand, We Built This City.

The training course starts on 19^th September with trading in the shop planned for the first two weeks of October.

The original deadline to apply was 15^th August but they are still low on applications from Croydon, so this has been extended for our Borough to next Friday 2nd September.
