Separate from East Croydon Cool’s social media and event partnerships, founder Maddy also takes on a small number of independent creative projects each year with local businesses.
With over 20 years’ experience in marketing, PR, and events, she brings a mix of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery shaped by 10 years of working closely with Croydon’s local community.
What this can involve
Every project is different, and the work is always tailored to the idea rather than a fixed service list but might include:
• Shaping campaign ideas and creative direction
• Copywriting and storytelling
• Content and messaging strategy
• Event concepts and cultural programming
• Press and audience engagement support
Selected projects
Projects tend to work best where there’s a strong fit between audience, message, and local relevance. We’re selective about the projects we take on, and focus on work where we feel we can add the most value. A few examples of collaborations include:
1) Event curation for The Blossoms
We’ve worked with The Blossoms to design and manage a monthly workshop programme that brings their residents together whilst also showcasing Croydon’s local creatives and small businesses. Workshops have included Block Printing (with Sam from Scene in London), Tapestry (with Kate from KM Art), Cocktail Making (with Scott from The Cocktail Bar) and Chocolate Making (with Naz and Michael from Cocoa and Nut). Future sessions will incorporate watercolour painting, wine tasting, nature collage and fashion drawing.

2) Copy and content support for Croydon BID
We’ve worked with Croydon BID to write a series of Guides to the area as well as a ’50 Great Things about Croydon’ article.

3) Press support for Signal Brewery
We’ve worked with Signal Brewery to secure press coverage for their 2023 Pay Day parties. The resulting 15 pieces of coverage included Conde Nast Traveller, Secret London and Muddy Stilettos.

Interested in working together?
If you have a project or idea and think it might be a good fit, get in touch on info@eastcroydoncool.co.uk. Because of capacity, we’re not able to take on everything we’re approached about, but we always appreciate thoughtful enquiries and ideas from local organisations, creatives, and community-focused businesses.
