WIN a PS5 Console and game courtesy of Go2Games!

In the lead up to Christmas, East Croydon Cool has partnered with Go2Games to run an Instagram competition in which one lucky participant will win a PS5 console and a game.

To take part, people simply need to follow @Go2GamesShop and then leave the comment ‘Croydon’ on the 3 competition Instagram posts (which will automatically feature on both East Croydon Cool and the Go2Games feeds). The winner will be selected at random and will be announced on 22nd December (just in time for Christmas!). The first Instagram post can be seen HERE.

Go2Games was set up in 2012 by four local friends and continues to operate from Croydon. It initially began as an online video games retailer but with community at the heart of the operation, the business has collaborated with a range of local organisations (including Onside Youth Legacy, Croydon College, London Learning Consortium, and DigiLearning) to deliver various other services including the provision of work experience and training for young people.

Working with London Learning Consortium, Go2Games provides a range of Kickstarter positions, traineeships, and work experience opportunities. To date, they’ve worked 30 Kickstarters – including nine apprentices from Croydon College. Seven of these have gone on to secure full-time employment.

As Gold Supporters of Onside Youth Zone Legacy in Selhurst, Go2Games have donated gaming consoles and run regular e-sports tournaments. Most recently, they brought eight youth clubs together from different Croydon postcodes through the power of video games.

During the pandemic, Go2Games ran a campaign called #KeepCroydonConnected – an appeal that helped gather together laptops and other digital devices for vulnerable young people to use. This allowed students without laptops access to devices they needed to continue their studies remotely.

As 2022 draws near, Go2Games have big goals to make a difference in Croydon’s employability statistics. With recent research reporting that 75% of jobs will require advanced digital skills by 2030, Go2Games plan to run a range of accredited Digital Skills and Entrepreneurial courses centred around the video games industry.
